Third Annual Project Helping Hands Summit

This years event will take place on Saturday September 22nd.  2012 in Portland Oregon at the Mercy Corps Action center.    A continental breakfast will be available on Saturday morning at the event location.  The Mercy Corps Action center is adjacent to the Famous Portland Saturday Market where you will have individual choice from a wide variety of food vendors for lunch.  There will be a social gathering organized for Friday evening the 21st. 

Local PHH Staff and Volunteers will be happy to organize activities for our out of town guests so that you may have the opportunity to explore the Portland area.

The Leadership Summit is open to anyone who is interested in volunteering on a Project Helping Hands (PHH) medical or health education team, or is interested in learning more about providing medical care or health education for people in developing nations. PHH teams are open to both Medical Personnel and Non-Medical Support Personnel. 

Those of you interested in leading or co-leading a PHH medical team at any time in the future should definitely plan to attend.

There will likely be three different "Tracks" that atendees can choose from. Some possible topics include:

1. Team Leadership
2. Health Education
3. Cultural Issues
4. Force Protection
5. Optometry exams in the field
6. Clinical workshops - diseases encountered in developing nations
