Cochabamba Bolivia July 2012

The team will land at El Alto International Airport (Altitude 13, 325 feet) and transfer to another plane for the journey to Cochabamba (Altitude 8,900 feet). We will be met by our Bolivian hosts and friends when we arrive. After an initial evening of preparation, our clinical and educational work will begin.

We will travel out and back daily and provide health care and education services to regions around the perimiter of Cochabamba. We will have translators to assist us with the Spanish, Quechua and Amayra speaking patients.
There may be an opportunity to visit hospitals, museums and the Cristo that watches over the city. There will be an opportunity for souveigneer shopping prior to returning to the USA.
- Amount of in Country travel: Light - team members will travel via car/truck to clinic sites each day and return to the UBB sleeping quarters each night.
- Sleeping arrangements: The UBB compound is a safe and secure environment with filtered water. Dependent on space, we will be housed two persons to a room. Breakfast and dinner will be availbable to us in the common dining area on the second floor.
- Running water/electricity: We are fortunate to have bathrooms, showers, hot water and electricity at the compound.
- Physical Requirements: There is minimal walking on this trip, but team members are encouraged to be in moderate or better physical condition. Team members may be asked to assist in lifting medicine bags or other luggage into vehicles or onto clinic tables/benches.
- Weather: The weather should be very dry with sunshine most every day. Team members are encouraged to dress in layers as the mornings and evenings are rather cool. Daytime temperatures are mild in the mid 60's and nights near freezing.
