Bolivia Highlands "Uyuni Salt Flats" - March 2012
The team will arrive at El Alto (La Paz) International airport (Elevation: 13,325') and will begin their journey toward the Uyuni Salt Flats providing clinics/education and blitz stops along the way, as well as provide clinics along the perimeter of the Uyuni Salt Flats. During the trip they will also hold a full day Educational Seminar for regional health care providers.

The team will camp out one night at Isla de Pescado (Fish Island) on the Uyuni Salt Flats on the night of the full moon.
Amount of in-country travel:
Extensive. Expect rugged conditions and vicissitudes...the "price" of serving very remote and needy rural communities.
Sleeping arrangements:
Sleeping will be on the floors of schools, churches, and town meeting places. Our last night in Bolivia will be at a five-star hotel.
Running water/electricity:
Some villages will have electricity and running water; some will not.
Physical requirements:
This is a HIGH ALTITUDE trip (elevations between 12,000' and 16,000') and will include moderate physical activity including walking while carrying supplies and lifting heavy luggage. Team members are encouraged to be in good physical good.
Climate:
The temperature will range from near freezing at night to the Mid Eighties during the day. There will be a possibility of rain showers during this trip but heavy rains are not likely as this is typically a dry High Desert type region.
